Going, Going, Gone

This season always finds me some mindless yet focused form of organization… and this year it’s moving almost everything physical to external drives, then tossing the physical. Consequently, I’m running across things I barely even remember recording. This one is a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Going, Going, Gone’ from his Planet Waves album. Always loved this song and don’t quite remember why it didn’t make the record. Maybe because so many artists were doing Dylan covers it just felt a little trite.  Not the song of course, just the idea of doing it for an album :). Anyway it was nice to hear it again after all these years. This is about ’94 or ’95.  Cheers-

Further to my ♥️…15 years ago today I said goodbye to my father as he died. He overcame a debilitating stutter I heard often as a child, to sing beautifully with my mum as we both grew older
I know you didn’t share this today knowing that but it’s apt. Vocally, instrumentally and arranged perfectly. Thankyou

Jude, love Dylan’s lyrics. But your vocals & arrangement are by far superior. The piano is tasty. Your guitar playing is a beautiful thread throughout the song. Gibson Hummingbird.? Wonderful job. Like you, I’m baffled why it never made onto an album. Thnx for posting the song.

DrSeve Yes his vocals and arrangement are far better then Dylans , love the piano, here is a case where the cover is definitely better than the original

What an exquisite recording! Your passionate vocal and the instrumental arrangement are a perfect fit for the feeling of the song. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Like others have said, I DEFINITELY love your version much better! (I wish that you would record an album of Dylan’s best songs–Maybe then I could really appreciate them! In general, I would say that I’m not very fond of Dylan’s work; but it’s mainly because I cannot connect to his personal singing voice. I would love to hear other songs by Dylan if if it was your singing voice and musical arrangements, rather than his.) 😁

Thank you for continuing to share your music with us!!!

The sentiment of this song seems fitting for the state of our country

Never been a Dylan fan but when his songs are covered, they’re somehow better… I think that’s means they’re just good, well written songs. LOVE this emotion packed version… especially dig the low-fi demo, even the rattle and hum adds character. The long deep wet reverb decay is delicious. The arrangement is heart wrenchingly captivating and the minimal piano literally strikes every simple right note. Don’t clean it up, don’t change a thing, the imperfections make it perfect. It’s like Cindy Crawfords mole… a perfect imperfection. Bet ya never had a song compared to he mole before… how about that.. LOL
